Anyone got one of the newer Horsethiefs with the 157mm rear hub?
As I have a couple of 157mm rear wheels (29x2.6 and 27.5x3.0) for my hard tail it could be a good way to move to full suss without go full on long low slack.
Grateful for any rider reviews.

No one seems to sell them in The UK though!
Cheers

There is a UK agency/distributor. Lyon. Nice looking frame. Gets good reviews. Singletracks latest issue has a review.

Thanks - no detail on their website but have emailed keeppedalling to see if they stock the frame. Will check singletracks mag as well.

Its worth a shot. I got some time on the 2019 rustler just after it was introduced. Has a very nice carbon frame and found it good everywhere. I would get one if I did not have a steel frame to build up and a carbon YT to maintain.

I had the first Split Pivot Horsethief a few years ago. Always seemed remarkably quick. Possibly down to the excellent job Dave Weagle did with the suspension as it wasn't particularly light. Frame was well made with a tough finish, neat welds and higher quality pivot bearings. Just watch out for the slack seat angle if you're tall. Doesn't look like they have steepened it much on the latest version.

I had an original horsethief, it was a brilliant bike until the rear triangle snapped. The one that didn't have rear bearings and was designed to flex.

Mate has the carbon 2nd gen bike with the split pivot and he loves it. It's a nice looking bike.

Salsa has been expensive since ison stopped selling them. Raleigh took over but didn't do a very good job in my opinion.

They've gone from a mid range brand to one of the more expensive ones but not because they've done anything, just because of supply lines and exchange rates.

I'd have another one but I'm not sure for the price they are competitive anymore. Better bikes for similar prices.

Is this not reviewed in the current issue of a surprisingly little known but excellent mountain biking magazine?

I quite fancied one, despite the price.

Realised it was in this month’s mag! Very well reviewed .
Agree on the value though.

Had the split pivot one , one of the bikes I wish I’d not sold. Would definitely buy another but been lured to gravel and bike packing. Still have my toe dipped in the Salsa pond with a lovely Vaya but I am currently building up a Krampus to try a 29er rigid. Great bikes but now very pricey.
