You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Not ridden on the plain before, and looking to ride north to south from Chirton to Shrewton next Saturday. I've got a GPX file so hopefully wont get lost, but can anyone confirm that part will be open? The MOD websites seem to say so, but some local confirmation would be appreciated.
This will be part of a point to point ride (meeting my wife at the end) so it would be ideal if I didn't have to add on a detour around the plain!
The best info I can find is here:

All I can say is that ime there was the odd occasion when using the Plain that access had changed from the public information put out by the MOD. Guessing you'll be using the obvious track through the middle of Larkhill/Westdown Range?
It would be handy to have an alternative and there is a very simple one - follow the Imber Range Perimeter Path (permanent access) westwards until you hit the A360. Cross over to Gore Cross (be careful, fast traffic) then pick up the IRPP section that heads South to Tilshead. Head to the Water Tower on the opposite side of the minor road then use the tracks/byways to Shrewton.
You could make some little diversions on this alternative section, for example there is a 'Bosnian village' and a couple of sizeable long barrows.
Thanks for the alternative route info, hopefully either one will work next week.
You're welcome, these links may be useful:
As Cinnamon Girl (hello 🙂 ) says, sometimes access does randomly change to what's published. Also, the night firing doesn't always end at a particular time the following morning. We went up there once after a night firing and the flags were still up, they were just being removed but kind of stymied the plan.
We were up there today and while looking on the .gov website this morning that you have looked at, found a number which my husband rang. It's a recorded message which was specifically for this weekend. So you could ring it next Saturday morning to double check. The number is 01980 674763 and it came up as being Robin Hood's Ball which is a Neolithic camp on the Plain 🙂
