Recently come by a saint rear mech . running 2 x 9 on slx with a bash. Is this compatable and what and where is the mode selector on the mech. Cheers foaley
Does 9-speed Saint have a mode selector? Mine didn't but it was an older model, not sure when it was introduced
My 10-speed one has it- it's a little tab on the part that meets with the mech hanger that can be moved. It's there to increase the swing of the mech so it can deal with bigger cassettes. I did find that the short cage was still an issue though, it couldn't take up all the chainslack on my bike so even with the mode selector I couldn't use a big cassette. Which maybe bodes no good for 2x9 compatability as the short cage may struggle to deal with it.
(the exact bike design also matters- mine was on a 224, which has a huge amount of chaingrowth.)
