I have a couple of brooks saddles which are great but not really suitable for winter... Other saddles I have a Charge Spoons ... but I find them uncomfortable. The main issue is rubbing in the prostate as you ride and aching in the arse cheeks/ top of thing (which seems to lead to siatica)
my bum bones appear to be kind to be narrow ... at 100 mms.
i have been looking at selle and specialised saddles ... anyone have a recommendation?
Only these: https://www.ismseat.com
with the added incentive that your undercarriage will not go numb.
There is no such thing like universally recommended saddle 🙂
Your example, you love Brooks, I personally hated it.
Every bum is different, so asking about recommendation is only very vague into-that direction suggestion.
I have relatively narrow sitting bones, not sure how, never cared to check it, but Bontrage Race Ti was one of the most comfortable I ever tried and pretty narrow as well.
Cheers!
I.
I like the specialized saddles, lots of different shapes and widths to choose from and I believe they still do a 30 day trade in so you can swap to a different model if it doesn't suit you. Used to use Spoons, now have the Toupe on my road bike and the Henge on my MTBs. They are a flatter dealing which works well for my bum.
You should try a Charge Spo.......
Oh.
That’s all my saddle chat exhausted.
Um.
Brooks Cambium is I think the same shape as their leather saddles, but doesn't dissolve in the rain. I find mine very comfortable.
Happy with my ergon smc4 😎
I get on fine with the Charge Spoon but have yet to try an SDG I like.
On that logic, you need an SDG.
I've tried a Brooks B66. Lovely and comfortable and kind to my back. But it does put pressure on my bones and sometimes they hurt so much that it hurts to sit down.
Gone back to a Rolls and will be getting a Thudbuster to go with it.
I too find the charge spoon very uncomfortable . For me it isn’t flat enough
Currently got a Fizik on the mtb (came with bike) and gone back to an old Selle Italia SLR on the road bike
With Selle Italia any particular models ...
On-one are punting out the SI Man Flow .... terrible name but any good?
Specialized also do some with big centre channel ... any experiences ....

I hated the Charge Spoon and my saddle of choice became (and still is) the SDG Bel Air (although the Bel Air 2.0 is horrible!) so you might have something!
As others have said though, it's a very personal thing and pretty hit and miss until you hit on one that works.

Sure, but the OP gets on with Brooks.
I find Charge Spoons uncomfortable too. As others say we are all different and it takes a bit of trial and error to find what suits you, for me I found this with Ritchey Vector rail ones, currently using a Skyline on one bike and Contrail on another, no complaints.

A Cambium certainly sounds like a good place to start.
Get along to an LBS with an 'arseometer' & get your sit bones measured properly (ghetto methods are available). The proper ones from Spesh & Bonty should give you a width to work with & how flat you need (or not).
The issue with Brooks is that they weigh a tonne ... and absorb water at an alarming rate ( then it ruins them ...)
I used to swear by a Charge Spoon. Used them for years without issue. Then last year they became a torture device. I watched a couple of arse measuring videos on YouTube, measured my arse, and figured out that a Spoon was about 20mm too narrow.
So I bought a Brooks Cambium cheap off eBay, and it was a revelation, it's like sitting on a sofa. I've now got a Cambium All Weather that's weather proof. It's heavier than the Spoon but I'll sacrifice a few grams for comfort.
How to measure your sit bones.
Then go and buy the appropriate sized Brooks Cambium.
the charge spoon is a killer but the Fabric spoon in the flat model is amazing ..... its all about the shape
I'm usually quite happy with a charge spoon but i've recently tried a Fabric Scoop on my bike and it's a revelation in comfort.
The main issue is rubbing in the prostate as you ride
Have you checked it's not your seatpost causing that?
Lots of options in Fizik now as well, widths, cut outs, softness. I went for a mid range aliante with the cut out, 155mm width.
Definite improvement over a Spoon on the road bike, more comfortable when stretched out, i.e. with pelvis rotated forward.
Fancy trying a Bonty Melrose or possibly that new Scicon one. Also interested in those Selle ones with the droopy nose, but can't see past looks or weight ☹
Oops, I meant Bonty Montrose, and that new Scicon one is £180, maybe not for me...
