Looking at some new 650b wheels for my hardtail.

Want something lightush, but strong as they will be used for red and black, natural trails, and a round of the SES this year.

Was set on Stans Flow Ex, but wonderec if anyone has exoerience of the Ryde Edge 28 rim?

Price seems reasonable, though the hubs seem a bit hard to find info on regarding reliability of freehub etc. Weight?

Chosen make hubs for alot of other brands. They look the same as some of the Stans hubs Some one who rides with us ran some in last years PMBA rounds and also spent alot of time in Wharncliffe on the DHs. Has just changed his bike and they were still as good as when he bought them

Thats not too bad. Will save about 200g over my current wherls, but have 4mm extra internal rim width.

Orange are putting the rims on the Alpine RS this year although on Hope hubs.
I was surprised at the build quality for the price of the Merlin ones

Not sure but give Merlin a ring. They should know.

Just got a DT EX471 in 27.5". 30mm external width, 495g's. They get very good reviews and some American rode down a mountain on one without a tyre so plenty tough too.
I'll be building them on DT 350 hubs with CX-Rays. Should be about 1700g

I have the Ryde enduro rims on superstar build. They are great, no dings after 4 months, still true, stiffer than my old flows, easy tubeless.

No sorry. Ryde have a website somewhere. I think the edge are sleeved and the trace are welded.

As an update, my rim has cracked on a rock strike. Folded the rim bead/sidewall right over and wasn't salvageable. Metal was very thin, presumably to get the weight down. Shame but I'm getting a heavier DT.

As an update to this, I went with Flow Ex rims in the end, but after two weeks got told there delivery of rims was delayed. I changed the order to Ryde Edge 26 rims.

Absolute bitch to get the maxxis tyres on - as in 4 hours bitch, with thumbs still red the next day.

Second ride out, got a pinch flat and dreaded having to replace the tube, it ended up being a piece of piss, the beads must have stretched.

Anyway, difficult to photo wheels, but here they are on the bike anyway.
