I have an Alfine 8. It's now 3,000Km old (give or take). Is there anything I should be doing, maintenance wise?

When do I need to send it back for a big service?

Many Thanks

In theory they need an annual dunk in special shimano magic oil. I had mine done at a cost of £20 and its smoother and less draggy afterwards with better shifting.

some folk have degreased, cleaned and run them in an oil bath. Some folk have dunked 'em in atf.

Hi

Treat it to a lovely oil bath - it will be much smoother afterwards!

Thank you

I've had a quick scan on the internet. Do I have to strip the hub from the wheel (removing all spokes?!) and give it an oil bath?!

Not really low maintenance compared to my conventional set-up... I don't have to rebuild a wheel to fit a new cassette

No, internals all slide out in one lump then get dunked and popped back in.
