Thinking of buying an etap bundle (second hand), but the thing that is putting me off is that it's non Wi-Fi. i very rarely use the 32 cog, but it's a nice to have on days abroad in the mountains.
I'm reading conflicted reports online as to whether it works or not, and that the key variance is it all depends on the frame hanger. I'm currently running ultegra 6800 short cage with a 32 no issues however, despite it being only recommended for a 28. Any reason to think it won't work with the etap mech?
If not, what's the downside of a goat link type device? I don't really understand what they do other than move the jockey wheels further apart, however I read that using one may mean the chain slack isn't taken up sufficiently.
You’ve got more chance of it working than with shimano, Sram seems to be far more flexible when it comes to stretching things to the limit. Might be worth a try and it it doesn’t work you can always go sub compact on the chainrings - I happen to have a set that won’t work with my frame I will be putting up for sale if you’re running it with a shimano 4 arm crank. (Cheap plug I know!)
I'm sure i did at one point, changed cassettes a few times, sure the was a 32 in there once
get a ceramicspeed ospw, as they work with 32t
ceramicspeed ospw
Just googled it..400 quid!!!
I'm running a compact 50/34 but would be interested to know why the chain rings make a difference. Are you saying I couldn't run a semi compact in future even if it did work? Thought it was all about the rear comparability
I've been running an 11/30 cassette with normal etap with no issues whatsoever.
