So I'm hunting around for a new frame to replace my Slackline and to open up the options wondered about looking at a 27.5" frame for my 26" bits.

Who's running this set up? As far as I can see I'd end up with a lower BB and a steeper head angle but is it likely that I'd actually suffer as a result?

Chainstay lengths seem pretty comparable between the frames I've been looking at so what else might I be missing?

ta.

27.5" frame with 26+ rims & tyres would be fun

Why not?,I have tried my 27.5" wheels in 26" frame feels slacker, but still fun. No rules in biking (UCI excluded!) 🙂

Blah blah geometry blah blah bb height...

You'll be fine with that, I've run lots of combos, if it works for you go with it

I can't see it exploding and killing kittens. You may have a few more pedal strikes until you get used to it but it's not like you're trying to fit skateboard wheels to a road bike...

Works fine on my 45650, just put fat tire on and the difference is pretty small. Got plans for 26+ if I can find a 650b fork for decent money.

I am running a hornet in 26" mode as thats what I had to transfer over, they say it works with both though. I love it, so much fun! Got it with the idea that it will be future proof for that day when all 26" stuff is stolen by aliens.

BB will be lower but head angle won't change.

I'd do it and I doubt I'd notice...been thinking about doing the same with one of those slightly cheaper Soul 275 frames

BB will be lower but head angle won't change.

It will if, as he said, he's using his 26" forks and they have a shorter a2c than what the geometry spec of the 27.5 frame is based on

As above, i'd happily run 26 inch wheels in a 27.5 frame but i'd want a 27.5 specific fork so the front didnt drop too low steepening the head angle....that or i'd find a 26 fork with a long A2C.

Didnt the guy who won the Mega (or qualified first?) that year in appalling conditions run 26 inch wheels in a 27.5 setup to improve mud clearance on his bike?

Manon was doing it on her Ariel.

As for your head angle, it alters drastically while riding on a hardtail anyway due to the way the frame pivots round the rear axle, and different forks with the same travel will have a different axle-crown anyway.

If you have an adjustable fork, whack another 5-10mm on the travel. Run Conti Rubber Queens if you're feeling very worried about it to get some extra height. Otherwise don't sweat it.

The wheels & tyres will be fine, but the - drivetrain, gears, shifters, mechs, innertubes, peggles, brakes, saddle, seatpost, stem & handle bars will be no good as they are all 26" specific

Thanks all, that's helped with the bit of reassurance I needed. I didn't see it as being a big issue and was contemplating a frame specced for a 140mm fork (I've got 150mm Pikes). On the basis that the fork is only ever at full length when I'm not sat on the bike I figured it would be a big issue anyways.

Reckon I could live with the incompatibility of all my other parts. If the worst comes to it I'#ll just wear goggle when I ride.

I still like the look of those Commencal AM HT frames, they seem to have them on CRC as well.

This thread doesn't help my urge.

Ressurrection!

My blur4x used to pedal strike alot, it didnt bother me as it felt low 😀

Anymore thoughts on this? I have decent 26'er wheels (4) and tyres that arent done yet.
