[Closed] Running a 120mm hub in to a 126mm frame. Will I die?

Decided I'd like to convert an old road bike to a single speed.

Picked up an old BSA for £28 locally off eBay for this purpose 🙂

All the SS wheels I've seen have 120mm hubs, but the frame has 126mm spacing. Can I just stick a 120mm hubbed wheel in and flex it a bit or do I need to bend the frame (think thats called cold setting...).

Any help appreciate - I don't really have a clue so want to do this to learn 🙂

Also any pointers to cheap-ish wheels and anything else I'll need would be ace! 2nd hand is fine.

Yes, either of those. Or find a washer or two to space it if you're worried. (assuming it's a steel frame)

You will definitely die of course - silly.

You can but its way more convenient to get a couple of 3mm spacers for ease of getting the wheel in.

Get track wheels, you freewheel will fit just fine and you can try running fixed too.

I figured death was inevitable 🙂

Spotted another SS local to me with all the bits, though the frame is to big - thinking it might be cheaper to buy that and strip it.

Single speed flip flop wheels can get expensive - I'm sure on one used to do a reasonably priced set with a flip flop hub for under £100 but I can't see any now.

Thanks guys.
