Doable?

Possibly as an interim?

I have a DT Swiss R23 disc spline wheelset with 23mm EXternal rim width that I'd like to run 50mm / 2.1" tyres on (WTB Nano or similar).

Would this be OK?

I ran 2.1 Velociraptors and Nobby Nics on my first 29er on Mavic road rims (719?) through lack of available mtb 29 rims. You will be fine.

Don't see why not. Not so long ago 17 & 19mm internal width MTB rims were the norm

19mm was massive in my day!

You'll be grand.

I've had 2.0 Race Kings and Fat Franks on 14mm internal (old) Open Pros. Worked fine, still alive.
