I've just got a new bike with a 2 x 10 XT set up, it shifts well, but there is a definite rumble when you turn the pedals when the bike is in the work stand. It sounds as if it is coming from the rear derailleur, but you can feel it though the pedals as you turn them by hand.
I’ve tried adjusting the cable tension on the rear derailleur, but that doesn’t get rid of it, and as I said it’s shifting ok. The derailleur isn’t rubbing on the cassette, and I’ve taken off the cassette to make sure that was fitted correctly, and that looks fine.
I’m all out of ideas of what the problem could be.
Anyone had similar problems, or ideas what might be the cause?
Bottom bracket, rear hub bearings...
tbh If its new, just take it back and ask them to solve it.
b tension to move jockeys away from casstte
Remove the mech and check the alignment of the hanger. It could have been bent out of the box.
The LBS have said bring it in and we'll sort it, but I thought if there was something I could tweak it would save me a trip into town.
As Jedi says - check the jockey wheels aren't too close to the cassette - might be a simple case of adjusting the screw.
Oh, chain isn't routed round the jockey wheels incorrectly is it? There's a little nubbin on the mech cage and I've occasionally wrapped the chain over it, but that is a fairly obvious noise.
ignore me, I'm stoooopid 😳
