Depends on the shape etc in terms of stickiness, but for the price they're decent enough. thick and rubbery.

Nukeproof also used to sell them separately for Chainstays and Downtubes pretty cheap, lots got hoovered up by people in the closing down sales and they often pop up on eBay or even through re-sellers.

Just fitted a stick-on Zefal one - 70 mm wide and rounded notches at one end so it follows any bends in the down tube near bb. Seems fine.

Trek sell rubber VHB-backed ones to fit their bikes, might find one that suits yours - I did.

I've got one of those eBay ones for Daughters DH rig - seems to do the job.

Why not VHB tape and a Chopped up old tyre?

I have rockstop ones on two bikes, I don't really give them any thought.....

One is fitted as per their instructions, the other I glued on....

The thin black VHB tape Trek use is rubbish.

The protector that came on my Roscoe started to fall off after a few rides (common issue according to the amount of posts about it in the Roscoe owners FB group) so I scraped off the black stuff and used thicker 3M clear rubber tape to reattach it, which has been fine ever since.

Why not VHB tape and a Chopped up old tyre?

When I tried this I found the chopped-up tyre refused to be un-hooped. Is there a trick to achieving this? Perhaps I wasn't aggressive enough with the heat gun?

Watching with interest. 

Do the nukeproof ones work with other bikes?

Is there an alternative to Rockguardz now they've gone?
