Looking for a fork to upgrade the basic rs 35 fork on my daughter's ebike
Been offered a silly deal on a zeb dual position emtb specific.
My question is the fork can be run either 180 or 150 for climbing and decending preference.
Would there be any adverse effect of the forks performance if it was run in the 150 mm travel setting all the time .
She's 18 years old a ightweight but a very good hard rider .
The bike she currently has, works best geometry wise with a 150/160 fork.
I'm pretty knowledgeable on all things suspension but no experience of dual position.
Any input appreciated
I don’t know the answer but it is a good question, I’d be concerned the spring rate is compromised in the lower position but have no facts to back that up. Can you get, and at what cost, a shorter dual position air spring? Would it be worth asking suspension workshops, they may have 2nd hand air springs from coil conversions etc
Didn’t know dual position forks were still “a thing”.
Assuming that you’d usually set sag and rebound in the 180 setting, set it with fork wound down instead? What else is there to consider?
We still have and run a Pike 160mm/130mm fork on my eldest daughters Stumpjumper. when set at 130mm the fork doesn't respond to movement as quick. On the odd occasion that is not been moved back on a DH you can defiantly feel the difference. Wouldn't have wanted to run it in the low setting for a long period of time
We are running Pikes and Lyriks on our Turbo Levos and have no problems with them for lightweight riders. I opted for Lyriks over Fox 38s as they were too overkill for me.
If you keep an eye out both can be found in the sales.
I've run revelations and pike dual positions and loved them,
On the main I flicked it to the higher setting for descending and didn't notice a difference but on occasions I forgot or didn't bother and never thought the performance suffered. However, I'm not a suspension guru and as long as they go up and down I'm pretty content.
Can the forks be changed to a lower rate? 130/150?
