Anyone had a sektor dpc upgraded, how good can they be made.

The reason I ask is I have a 2010 five fitted with a 150mm 2013 sektor dpc and a voodoo hardtail with 140mm 2014 rev rct3 forks.

The revs are perfect and clearly better than the sektors so thinking they would be better off on the five as it gets used on more demanding trails. I am not to bothered about them being 140mm as the five would have been 140 originally.

But this would then leave me with a 150mm hardtail, which I think I would feel a bit of a lemon on hacking around my local woods which are no gnarly. Plus it does not feel right having more travel on my hardtail than on the boinger.
So if I could get the sektors even close to as sweet as the revs I could leave them on the five.

I think loco tuning do a damper upgrade with the moco damper. Might be worth a look

The Sektors are dual position right? So just run them at 120 if you like.
I have the Sektor DPC on my Ti 456 ( a hardtail) and they are perfect, if a little flexi at times.

I would not run them at 120 accept for climbing as then you lose the use of the shorter softer spring.

I really not sure what to do, as the five is my "big bike" it should be more capable but that said it does not get used a quarter as much as the hardtail and I only have it because my bad back does not allow me to use the hardtail on anywhere really rough without paying for it later.

But then again the hardtail in question would not be the voodoo but the marley I have finally decided to build.

So my options are a

Five with 140 revs
Marley with 150 sektors dpc

Or

five with 150 sektors dpc
Marley 140 revs

Will I miss the 10mm from the five or will it feel better at 140.
Ether way I will look into the moco tune.

Sell the Sektors, buy some Pikes.

Easy, really. Next.

Yeah, you definitely need new forks

Especially with your bad back 😉

Options
New 140 or 130 coil spring assembly for the sektors and put them on the Marley they are £50 on fishers

Revs on the 5 and keep them at 140 or new 150mm spring assembly for £27

Or you could just upgrade the sektor on the 5 with a new Rev rebound damper £70-80

if pikes came with a straight steerer I would.
I was thinking another set of revs, but everywhere I have looked want actual money.

The more I think about it the more I like the idea of the 140 revs on the five , if only because I have less far to fall when it tries to kill me (which it does often).

Making the sektors 140 and upgrading the rebound dampner also, on the marley would be good, how hard would it be to do myself and what parts would I need.

Sektors are decent forks if done properly.
Get them serviced, ditch the dual position malarkey and have an upgraded spring and 140mm conversion, you will end up with a plush, simple 140mm fork for the hardtail then put the Revs on the 5.

Slight hijack , I have some Sektor TK solo air 140mm, didn't realise they could be upgraded. What's the benefit and is it worth it? They are plush but the dampening is a little
Off

I put Rev dampers in my Sektor soloair and it made the world of difference, esp. the rebound damper. It no longer packs down and just generaly reacts better in all situations.

Surely it makes no sense to buy a new rebound damper + a new comp damper + a new spring assembly for a cheap set of forks. If you want that setup, just buy some Revs and hawk the Sektors.

I would agree Superficial but if the Sektor has the MoCo then it is similar performance to the revs MoCo DNA one so you would only need a new rebound damper. Loco was testing the the 2014 Rev rapid recovery rebound damper in a Sektor but if they are not compatible then the 2013 dual flow rebound dampener is a good upgrade to.

moco damper in the sektors, just add 2013 or 2014 rev rebound system and get them working better.
If the sektors are TK ones you really need to replace compression and rebound system to make the upgrade worthwhile.

As for the OP and travel DP reduction just replace the DP spring.

Any queries feel free to drop us a mail or call the workshop. 😀

I have decided, the revs are definatly going on the five and I will build the marley with the sektors.

I definatly will get in touch with loco with regard to upgrading the sektors but will ride them as is for a while just to decide wether or not to have them dropped to 140 or not.

Thanks for the input.
