Please suggest me a source of a long socket that fits - I borrowed one and it's still not long enough....

Can you not get an open ended spanner on it?
I have to do similar on my Fox Floats.

Not sure about the Rev but I found a set of 'tap spanners' very handy where a long socket was needed for my Sids. Like these:

I use a fairly ancient clarke deep socket. It's not just about the "height" of the socket but also the "depth", I've seen some deep sockets that wouldn't have the room inside for the shaft which kind fo defeats the purpose. But any good deep socket should do it.

No, tried ring and open ended.

^this. Plus being 'thin'

Yours must be different to mine and the wife's then. I can easily get a spanner on or a fairly standard deep socket. What about a box spanner?

Edit, just too slow!
