i'm new on this forum so i'd like to say hello evarybody.
i'm wodnering about rebuilding my RS lyrik solo air
by increasing travel to 170mm or 175 mm
i've been trying something during servicing.
there are standard 1.7mm rubber spacers on left anf right side of middle white part.
what are they are for??
what are their tasks??
during service i'was paling with them taking out one of them amde my liric and travel increased to 175mm and seemd to be everything fine.
for me it looks like they work only when fork is fully extended
am io wrong??
how about cutting then half each one or removing one of them ??
thanks a lot
anyone??
That 5mm is going to make a huge difference is'nt it......
RS lyrik 2009 has 160mm of travel so increasing 10-15mm would make difference.
increasing travel lyrik u-turn.

so it is possible with coil ones, how about SOLO AIR??
Well, considering you can buy a 170mm Solo Air, it can be done.
I'm not sure if there is a difference in rod length or similar between 160 and 170, maybe check in spare parts catalog?
I know that 170 can be spaced down to 160...
EDIT: this is for 2011 model
i read that upper and lower stanchions are the same.
2010 models also had spacers that allows to change travel between 170 or 160mm.

Another option.
cutting down about 10mm this thing on the right its much schorter on new models :
1. old one

new one is shorter like this

and newest 2012 160/170/180 travel option
?? what do you think about??
?? what do you think about??
I think youre overthinking 5mm. dont bother.
or if it bothers you that much buy some new forks.
Thread ov knowledge:
Buy the 2012 170 air assembly they feel a lot smother as the part that equalise's the the two air chambers has been improved. You need 11.4015.551.040 for the 170 air assembly.
i'm not overthinking 5mm more like 10-15mm :p but there are more advantages like changing head angle 🙂
next yaer i wont to buy some boxxers and then lyrik goes back to hardtail.
i'm thinking about tunning this fork cause it just don't cost 🙂
i also don't wont to destroy my fork !!
form me the main thing that is changing every year is base plate (not only ofcourse)
2009- my 160mm model has longer one
2010 - has almost half of it(170mm) + spacer (160mm)
2012 - has 3 different lengths - the shortest (180mm)
- middle gives 170mm travel
- longest gives 160mm travel
what if i would just exchanget this part for shorter one??
this base plate prevents extending fork
for sure it changes travel cause i measured this.
what do u think about??
anyone??
