I picked up a new lyrik on ebay from wiggles clearing house - tri sport resort, and i got it cheap because it had been bought from wiggle, but the buyer returned it stating the damper was faulty.
So I took a chance the problem was minor, got it for a song. And truth be told i ride with it fully open anyway, so dont really need it to function.
I suspected the problem was lack of fluid in the damper side and was to some extent correct. So i had it serviced by the Glasgow bike hive, with the instruction that they take a look at it, and if theres an obvious issue sort it and if it looks like it is totally fubar then just reassemble, correct amount of fluid and leave it at that. Because the basic lower leg service is only 30 quid.
So the problem according to the mechanic
The basic lyrik select damper has holes in it at the top of the leg, and if you invert the fork and cycle it up and down it will pump the oil out these holes and it will settle in the lower end, meaning the dampers dry. The mechanic worked that out by the fact there was the correct amount of oil in the air side, but more than there should have been swilling about the bottom of the leg on the damper side
So he filled and bled the damper and that put it all good again, but recommended that i dont invert AND cycle it, as that would just pump the oil back out again. You can invert it for fluid to soak the foam rings, only dont pump it.
The mechanic had two brand new lyrik's in and both had this same problem. new, but seemingly faulty damper.
Total cost for 40. standard take to bits, reassemble, and an extra tenner to bleed the damper.
Fork cost me £230, plus the 40 so all in all still a very good deal.
But this is really just to let everyone here know that if you have a 2022 lyrik select, dont pump it while upside down
The charger damper is sealed so no oil should be coming out which ever way you pump the fork afaik?

Why would you cycle a fork upside down in the first place? Plus as above, the Charger is a sealed unit - all the oil is contained within a bladder - there shouldn't be any fluid escaping from it at all. I had an early Charger-equipped Pike that had a leaking seal-head, which was a recognised issue, which leaked fluid and stopped the quasi lock-out working, but that was sorted ages ago. Someone like TFT will sort it out, albeit at a price.

Charger RC and Charger 3 use a spring backed IFP and purge hole (like a GRIP damper rather than a bladder the Charger 1/2/2.1 uses). It shouldn't just leak out if inverted, but RockShox do seem to like putting out products then upgraded seals shortly after.

It didnt, it was a case of whomever bought it, took it out the box, and resting on its steerer pumped it in and out, which is what apparently drained he oil out.
