I think my shock may have just started playing up.
It started making a slight squelchy noise when it compresses that I have never noticed before.
Also, I find that I have to run the shock on the slowest rebound setting for it to have enough rebound so it's not too 'springy'. Is this normal?
Finally, The first shock I had was replaced by the bike shop as it was dead, The shock I have at the moment is tuned to '225'. Is this correct for a 2010 Orange 5?
Thanks!

At the start of the stroke it will 'squelch' a bit due to float fluid going through the transfer port between the positive and negative air chambers within the air can.
Do you mean 225 psi air pressure in the air can?

Both mine and a friends 2010 orange five rp23 boost valve rear shocks started doing this a few weeks back. Send it back to mojo. First time, they sent mine back having had new oil and re-gassed...still did it so back again and mine had a damper service kit with new seals etc and that fixed the problem.

Hugh

edit: Mine has the same tune i believe too but will check for you asap.

Maybe speak to Mojo if it's a new shock for them to look at under warranty seeing as your local to them, they can always adjust the tune to suit your 5 if it's not the right one.

I'm intrigued now, how old were all your shocks when they started making the noise hugh_b ?

The frame was new in October and they started doing it a 3-4 weeks back. We left them as we thought it was the very cold temperatures we were having but 2 weeks ago i went to fit a new chain/set everything up as i'll be riding alot more regularly and noticed it was doing it still. It hasn't had a hard life over the winter either. Both shocks started doing it at the same time...when it snowed! (both had been sitting there for a couple of weeks) I wonder if it's something to do with the cold contracting the seals and the oil mixing with the gas if thats possible? I'm sure i've read it's something that happens with rp23's.
I posted a topic up a while back and someone else with a boost valve rp23 on an st4 had the same problem.

Mojo did a good job of getting it sorted though, i sent it Monday, they got it Tuesday, fixed it and tested it and i had it back for Wednesday. Couldn't ask for much more than that.

Thanks, was just interested as to the possible sources of the problem.

Interesting. My frame was also new in October. That said, I keep my bike in the house so it never gets that cold and I didn't go riding in the snow either. I'll have to pop up to mojo and see what they say.
Cheers

LoCo on my 2008 Orange Rp23 That failed withing two weeks.
Basicaly just sank MOJO asked if I used MucOff or other on
the phone and blamed that but I replied I only put one squirt
in a bucket of water.
Anyway I recieved it with new seals and then 3 months on, the
shock sank again and new seals was put in But no probs since

Using MucOff on BMW Motorcycles voids their warranty on corrosion ...go figure :-S

Can't say anything bad about the service from mojo though. Dropped the shock off on wednesday afternoon after riding cwmcarn and was able to pick it up lunch time the next day. Excellent stuff!
Hopefully it will last a bit longer now 🙂
