My 6 month old Roubaix comp. So far have had the headset work done, the bleed ports stripped and drilled out, new brake lever as the master cylinder was faulty and now, 1400miles in, the freehub is clanking away. Took the cassette off and the freehub is peeing out rusty water and very notchy. Can't figure out how to remove it to try and re-grease it. No large alken key fitting. drive side says "loosen" with 2 flats for a spanner but just spins. Any ideas?
You probably need to clamp the other end of the axle in some soft jaws nd then turn that end cap.
Ah, thanks. I was wondering that but don't want to damage it. No vice, maybe some mole grips
The left hand side of the axle should have an Allen key fitting inside it so you can unscrew the drive side nut.
It’s a formula hub and spares are often available through Specialized and other brands who use those hubs as OE
Only video I Could find and yes it’s an xd driver hub he’s doing but you should get the idea. Yours may have a pull of end cap or may have a preload nut and lock nut on the left
Definitely no Allen key. None drive side has 2 holes inside but I can't get the rotor off as my locking tool isn't deep enough
Supposed to have dt Swiss internals but not the simple pull off no tool cap
The posher Rovals use DT swiss internals, these aren't DT, freehub and end-caps are all wrong.
Only top end Rovals have DT internals, that's definitely not DT - it's Formula as above.
There must be something you can oppose to be able to unscrew the DS end cap. It may be necessary to remove the rotor, but that's not that common, I expect it's more obvious than that.
You need to hold the non drive side while putting an adjustable spanner on the drive side where it says loosen. Non drive side should have a flat section that a cone spanner fits into?
Roval tech page days definitely ft Swiss internals
The Roubaix Comp doesn't come with Roval wheels?
Errrr, yes it does, roval slx 24 as standard 2018
Ah, last years. Spec is just generic sealed bearing hubs.
Edit, ignore that 🙂
Right, try again...
The Specialized tech site lists the wheels as Roval SLX 24 but lists the hubs as sealed cartridge, pawl
Roval SLX 24 Disc, sealed cartridge hubs pawl, DT Swiss Competition spokes, 24h
Difficult to tell from the pics for sure, but my guess is the cap on the brake-side pulls off, allowing you access to the rotor mount and hole in the axle for a tommy-bar.
