Hi looking for some advice, got some Roval control 29 wheels 2013 vintage and need to get some adapters...LBS quoting end of may for receipt of parts from Specialized... believe the hubs are made by DT and CRC have adapters for these in stock for 240 and 440 hubs anybody know if these fit please? Cheers in advance...ps emailed DT but hoping you guys can beat swiss efficency 😉
It will depend on the front hub and how many spokes are in the wheel.
We have two sets of Roval Traverse ELs and a set of Traverse Carbons and the adaptors are not interchangeable between the front wheels. All are straight pull spokes, the adaptors are spaced for them. One of them has 27 spokes. I ended up sending photos of the hub to Specialized in order to get the right part number for them and then got the LBS to order them.
Usually the rears are DT adaptor compatible (not always, some Rovals are on specialized hilo hubs, they've diluted the brand a lot). And as Tracey says, the fronts are all over the place.
There's a dude who posts on MTBR, Roval Joe, who's a big help (nobody else in Specialized seemed to be able to find out that the 15mm adaptors for the EL are discontinued, they just kept sending me packet after packet of wrong adaptors. Eventually I made my own out of a 20mm adaptor for one wheel and a 15mm for another.
@Tracey, I got a bunch of spare spokes for the ELs from Freeborn, if they're first gen (grey sticker and hub), you need a spare? The one time I found the parts in stock I just bought loads 😆
Thanks for the offer. I have enough spokes to rebuild the EL wheels fully if needed. Got them as a job lot when one was accidently broke in the Alps and couldn't buy a spare out there. I need to get round to selling one set of wheels now me and Abigale are on 650b.
Was nice to see you at the weekend. We all had a great time despite the weather. Will be back up for the International, its going to be a mad May for us
Not sure if it's the same ones but I just ordered a set of 15mm adaptors for a set of Roval Control Carbon wheels a couple of weeks back from my local Specialized Concept Store and they arrived within 2 days.
Try a Concept Store rather than an LBS and see if they're any better for delivery times.
Sorry, slight hijack. I've a set of 240s qr hubs, about 8 years old. I understand the newer 240 hub is the basis of the Spesh / Roval hubs, can the old hubs be adapted to newer axle sizes? Thnx in adva
