Great route and a great day out.

There are some artificial routes in Grizedale Forest for an evening blast. Otherwise why not buy the maps and work out a few routes? The Lakes is full of old packhorse trails, perfect for bikes.
From Bowness, you could catch a boat across the lake, to access Claife Heights, Grizedale, etc. The regular car ferry is out of action following a fire, but there's a replacement service from the jetty in Bowness: Windermere boat
If you're doing Garburn, do it west to east! A lot of the guides are out of date, the Troutbeck side is basically a dirt road now. Nice and easy to get up but not the nicest surprise if you climbed the other side and were waiting for the amazing descent that the guide book tells you is coming. I turned around and just went back down the way Id come up, which was good fun but tbf I thought the whole thing was pretty overrated.
(I got the Vertebrate guide frinstance and it's about 9 years old now)

Not on this Saturday though, please. As a few hundred guys doing the Sam Houghton Challenge will be coming up it East to West!!!

Looks like it should be a tad drier this year 😁
