Heading up to Hawes for a week with the inlaws and they're happy to babysit for junior meaning me and the Mrs get to ride together without a trailer for the first time in a long time. Problem is I've never ridden in that area and need some pointers please. Not looking for all day epics as my wife hasn't really ridden much since giving birth, so fitness might be a bit lacking. Don't have a GPS so just some vague route descriptions that I can find on a map would be cool.
Ta very much in advance.

MTB The Dales has a couple of routes - Dodd Fell & Tour of Wensleydale are easily done from Hawes. Plus there's the Dales Bike Centre not far away for plenty of advice/cake.

Not exctly biking, but - Don't drink at the Green Dragon. Been twice, been awful both times (as in - First visit we had bad food, people ill, we refused to stay a second night, the second visit a few years later was just for a pint mid ride as we were desperate and the beer was off!)

but DO go to the chippy on the market place, they still fry in beef dripping

*drrooooolllll*

Black Bull (or might be Horse) in Askrigg is excellent food, beer and nice olde world stylee.
Also, Rose and Crown in Bainbridge is usually pretty decent food (and they let us store our boat there for free!) 🙂
If it's warm and the sun is shining, take a picnic and a rubber dinghy down to Semmer Water, the kids can go swimming.
Also worth taking the kids to that hidden garden place near Leyburm (Middleham?), can't recall the actual name of it, but garden and house full of weird Harry Potter type stuff. You have to pre book or buy a ticket at Leyburn Tourist Info.

Thanks for the route ideas. Thanks also for the general tourist advice! My little one is only 4 months old so maybe won't appreciate the hidden garden thingie (but it sounds like fun to me)!
