Hi all

After a great weekend riding around Exeter with a mate I have realised in need to do some more training and ride some more hills. So anyone got any good route's in hertfordshire or Bedfordshire with some nice hills in. Planning a trip to dartmoor in march so need to get my fitness up a wee bit.
Thanks beanie.

Borrow a road bike, it will get you fitter faster.

Beanie - the Chilterns this time of year are a beautiful mix of clay, chalk and flint. There are rideable areas, but joining them up can prove interesting.

However, good places to start are Watlington (just off the M40) or Wendover/Tring (near Aylesbury). There's access to decent hills from both, plenty of legal paths as well as some fun *cough* 'other' paths.

Aston Hill in Bucks will also give you a superb aerobic workout, but be warned - this time of year the downhills become uber-technical unless it's been very dry.

Alternatively there's a lot of good, all-weather sand-based routes around Woburn Sands which I'm sure some of the regs on here will show you round.

There are good routes in the rough ride guides.

They do one for the south east and one for the south west - About 90 rides in those two. looks like they might have changed the format now though.

Ditto the above - to get your base mileage up fast, road is the way to do it.
