Up there walking with a group at the weekend, got Friday to myself, will take the bike and fancy a nice thrash about the place, 20-30 miles.

Had a bit of a search and there's a few nice looking options (seems Mastiles lane is best done West to East, is that right?) but would like the wisdom of the massiv please.

Loads of great riding. The weather here (10k away) however is terrible at the moment with freezing rain, very wet ground and slush everywhere......good luck!

A favourite of mine is to take the bridleway from the back of the outdoor pursuit shop and then head north east to Streets Gate. Take the track to the left through the ford and then head up and over High Cote Moor. At the road go right under Kilnsey Cragg .Leave the road at the handy placed pub and take Mastiles Lane back to Street Gate. Either retrace your route back to the start or take the road and pay a visit to Gordale Scar. Once back in Malham fill your boots on proper beer and grub a either of the two pubs.
- You can extend this route by heading over to Settle via Kirkby Fell at the start of the ride and routing your way back along Langcliffe Scar to pick the route back up at Streets Gate

Yeah, well I'm up there so will ride if I can, a bit of weather won't put me off 🙂

I think the route you suggested is pretty much what I had in mind from the web, so is clockwise over High Cote then back along Mastiles Lane better than anti-clockwise?

Under present conditions I'd say descending High Cote and up Mastiles will be much better IMO.
High Cote is mainly grass

Mastiles is stone all the way up

You will get plenty cold. A stiff breeze is forecast...

Alternative suggestion - Mastiles Lane over to Kilnsey (tea shop at trout farm). Go over to conistone and climbing up Scot Gate then Bycliffe Road into Mossdale before picking up slightly cheeky but fine mining track heading away right then curving round and down to Grassington (tea shops aplenty). Then either retrace to Malham by road or head up Moor Lane from Threshfield and over Weets Top down to Malham to finish - that last section will be v boggy, though.

Other alternative is to join the Settle Loop clockwise down Stockdale Lane and into Settle, then turn it into a fig-8 by following it as far as the Langcliffe road then heading onto the Pennine Bridleway down into Stainforth adding in a loop around Crummackdale, up onto Sulber then down Long Lane and back via Feizor. Again, mostly good paths and tracks. More tea shop options in Clapham and possibly Feizor.
