A few of us are off to Keswick in March, staying in the town and hoping to ride from the door. Have done it a couple of times before and done the Borrowdale Bash with the Lonscale loop (along the old railway to Threlkeld, up past Blencathra Field Centre, to the top of the valley and back towards Keswick behind Latrigg) as an easier day after doing Stonethwaite->Stake Pass->Angle Tarn->Styhead Tarn->Stockley Bridge->back home round the west of Derwen****er. The latter was just too much unrideable stuff on the way up and down to do again (done it twice already).

I've found this route online:

described as a 'killer loop' but we're after a big day out in proper hills. It's longer and more climb-ier than the Angle Tarn route, but at least I know that the ride up from Threlkeld is an actual ride, not a carry, and the climbs are broken up rather than being all at once.

So what can people recommend as an alternative to doing the Threlkeld bit twice in 2 days?
Skiddaw? Something round the back of Catbells?
And does anyone know if the Walla Crag 'footpath' is now open to bikes? https://singletrackmag.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/if-youve-ridden-the-borrowdale-bash-your-trail-needs-you/
Thanks folks!

Thanks, great news. We've always done the route (or the path next to it) so it'll be nice to give that try instead.
