So we're off to Morzine again in a couple of weeks. I'm certainly not averse to the waymarked DH tracks round Morzine / Les Gets / Lindarets etc, but I'd quite like to get away from that a bit into the hills and maybe doing a couple of epic day rides. Where's a good place to start looking for route guides, what maps do we need etc?

Google throws up a whole smorgasbord of information, so some handy pointers would be much appreciated.

Might I recommend (1) the Col de Cou descent to Barme (if you're discreet) and (2) the Bourgeoisie descent into Samoens, then heading further into Sixt/Flaine if you can be arsed? Both are on Flowmtb/Ridemorzine/Endlessride's website. A nice little 1-2 punch for 2 days.

Cheers guys, some very good pointers there, and just the right kinda stuff we're looking for too I reckon.

Ambrose - you have mail incoming!

Looks like I might have an excuse to buy a cheap GPS too...

I did a guided week (with Endless rides), then used the knowledge gained, to explore the area ourselves the following week.

next time I used this http://www.roughrideguide.co.uk/Morzine-and-Portes-Du-Soleil.html Very handy.

the VTOPO guide has even more in it, but is written in proper shonky english translated guidance for which proper pathways to utilise upon your bicycle are given.
