You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
We're looking at going back to Scotland later in the year - either end of May or over the summer - depending on travel restrictions obvs.
Looking at the Trossachs this year though.
What sort of riding is there?
Looking around Loch Lubnaig and Loch Long at the Forestry commission log cabins.
Will be taking mine and the kids bikes, so something for them and something a bit gnarlier just for me lol
Thanks
Loch Lubnaig area has an easy and very pretty NCN route beside it. Mostly tarmac with some unsurfaced sections and a great viaduct. You can continue on the Rob Roy way towards Killin as well. Glen Finglas has a hilly LRT circular route from Brig O'Turk and there's a quiet tarmac loop of Loch Katrine from Aberfoyle. The climb out of Aberfoyle can be on forest track if preferred but the Dukes Pass road is great fun. Off road through Glen Ample isn't far either, pops you out onto the South Loch Earn Rd, which is quiet. There's stacks of marked forest rides all around Aberfoyle, with a few bits of singletrack leading off them.
Loch Long gives you the Ardgarten peninsula route, mostly forest road with some nice singletrack. A shorter forest road north loop from Arrochar past Succoth north then east towards Beinn Ime, then west to the Sloy Dam before descending on lovely singletrack back to Arrochar. Road rides are plentiful and mostly quiet around the Cowal Peninsula, although getting to and from Loch Long will involve a largish climb up the Rest and Be Thankful (old military road) and / or Hells Glen near Lochgoilhead.
Fill yer boots.
As for technical, aberfoyle has some of the gnarliest trails in Scotland. Its where Danny M and others have filmed loads of times and where the annual slip and slide happens (google ben cathros video of last year).
Ben Ledi is also a great yomp, with a descent mixed of fast sections and proper steep technical rocks and staircases.
From Lubnaig you are a stone's throw from Balqhidder trails, which are developing a plenty.

Killin has a couple of lovely sections of single-track, around the Auchmore Gorge.
A nice pedal with the kids would be up and down Glen Ogle, but from Glen Oglehead take the long rolling track to loch Breachlaich to the south east of Killin. Beautiful picnicking spot. 🙂
For proper single-track, Comrie Croft isn't far, Crieff has a good few trails on the Knock and Ben Chonzie for an easy (for a Munro) for big mountain day.
So much choice.
This is an adventure with Thump from Callander to Loch Voil hostel:
