I fancy riding back from the next round of the NWCCA over at Heaton Park next Sunday.
Is there a nice and relatively traffic free / safe as possible route back towards Cheshire?
Google shows Bury New Road towards Manchester and then the Bridgewater Way to Dunham Massey, from there I'm fine. Is that out ok or is it a bit dodgy riding down the canal ?
The canal towpath is great until Oldfield Brow just before Dunham, then it deteriorates and can be quite muddy. I'd get off it at Seamon's Road and use the back roads or the Trans Pennine Trail to get to Dunham Massey.
Agree with Staffo not sure where it gets a bit crappy about not riding on the canal but it's not an issue riding most of it
I think you can follow the irwell quite well from up there too
Thanks guys
