I'm off to Yorkshire soon and looking for suggestions for bike routes. On road, off-road or a combination of the two.

Is Stainburn any good? I heard about it a few years ago, but have never been. Very technical?

Is it somewhere that can be easily incorporated into a longer ride or somewhere that you might just do multiple laps?

Cheers.

Stainburns good, small and technical however it was quite overgrown when I visited a few weeks ago. Maybe combine Stainburn with swinsty. There's some nice trails worth visiting and you can cycle between the two if you don't mind a bit of road.

Oops just re read the title.... my advice would be to definitely link both Stainburn and swinsty to do both or alternatively bike from Pateley bridge. Plenty to go at round there.

Some lovely day rides out of Pateley Bridge and Appletreewick. Not remotely technical - think big views and wide trails. Easy to do 45 miles or so with minimal road though.

Very little road needed to join swinsty and stainburn, can be linked mostly by(admittedly a bit rubbish) bridalway and blind eye cheeky.

Take the route out of the back allotment at swinsty and there is done stuff to play arround on in there. If its quiet you could head over [s]Simon's seat[/s] beamsley beacon even for a nice *ahem* walk with air-handlebars *ahem* towards Bolton Abbey

Park at Swinsty - Beecroft Woods, Back Allotment, Timble Ings, Bow Shaw, Round Hill, then a choice of routes back towards the start

(edit, you may notice that there is the potential to walk from Round Hill towards Beasley Beacon then down to Langbar 😉 before rejoining the legal routes along Long Ridge back towards Bow Shaw)

Stainburn and Norwood are fairly technical, especially the Boulder Trail, with steep ups and downs. A couple of laps and I'm pretty worn out!

If you want a longer ride we sometimes set off from Blubberhouses up Kex Gill off road and then onto Denton Moor/Beamsley Beacon and then back through Timble.

I will probably do a few early morning laps of Stainburn, and might also take a road bike for another morning.
