I feel I'm missing a trick. I can find segments, I can see a bit on heatmaps but how do I find popular routes?

I'm trying to find some xc pootles for this weekend in Dunkeld with the gf.

I've made this:
https://www.strava.com/routes/11244917

Which shes done before and enjoyed and looking for another route or 2.

I hear it's quite boggy at the moment due to the rain so ideally avoiding a bit of that if theres any locals knowledge.

Have you tried Trailforks? I don't know about Dunkeld, but for other new places I have found it useful for trails and downloadable routes. You need to log-in to get the downloads.

Click on a few segments in the area and then have a look on the leaderboard and view their route that they did, if you have a look at about half a dozen you'll soon see a pattern of the common routes using the segment.

Also try sorting the leaderboard by the last week/month and see if it is being ridden lately in current conditions.

Not tried trailforks good shout... I just thought being a premium member on Strava that this information would be an easy find.

I've seen horrid old sites like bikely but just assumed Strava would be all over it 🙁

The heat is the popularity on a Strava heat map.

I usually do what makrshires said, then use this awesome tool:

https://mapstogpx.com/strava/

to extract the gpx file.
