You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Dear all, headed up there in a few weeks, we do have a couple of guide books but there's not much info on that area. Will probably do the "classic" ride from the Sligachan and SW on Skye but after ideas for day or 2 day Bothy/bivi rides anywhere in that general area.
Cheers
There's a wee brown pocket sized book of mountain bike routes available in most Scottish bike shops that has a couple of Harris routes in it.
And a book by Kenny Wilson that has some great Torridon routes. It's harder to get hold of though. MBR had some good Torridon stuff about a year ago. Or do a search for Torridon on here and you'll find loads of advice.
I've got the Kenny Wilson book and done the bigger of the Torridon routes, it was bloody stunning! Think the MBR stuff was a mixture of the 2 routes Kenny describes. I do have a small black and brown book, Andy McCandlish?? somewhere, will dig it out.
Harris
2 routes
if that doesn't work, Trabert, E, N beside loch, yellow rd E then S, track W on coast - a true classic - called Reinigeadel loop
W, S on track,
Oooh, cheers for those, will check them out on an OS map.
Any other Scottish gems that just have to be ridden?
I've always wanted to do this one
from E end of Loch to road is easy (I've done that - not done from Crask Inn pub on W to loch *a report I saw said it was doable .....).
And here - http://www.streetmap.co.uk/idld.srf?x=231920&y=942605&z=120&sv=231920,942605&st=4&ar=y&mapp=idld.srf&searchp=ids.srf&dn=766&ax=231920&ay=942605&lm=0 not ridden ANY of this, but it looks interesting
if you do find any gems wouldn't mind a mail (in profile ish)
Cheers
Did the Reinigeadel to Tarbert route on Monday: thought it was the best route I'd ever done!
Just did that section of the loop and in that direction. That way you get a great red standard descent down to the road (and a 1000ft push-up the jig-jags). The other direction would mean more ridable sections but the jig-jags in descent would be heading towards Downhill standard (at least double black XC anyway!)
