I'm in looe/polperro next and taking the Mtb bike. Does anyone know of any good off road routes around there.

Any gpx files or words of wisdom greatly apprieciated

Thanks

I know that area very well, but not aware of any decent off-road riding to be had. I'm pretty certain that the coastal path is a footpath, but with all the steps you wouldn't want to ride it anyway. Might be something around Bodmin Moor? Otherwise Dartmoor. I never used to bother taking the MTB when I went down that way.

On the road, however... there are some brutal ramps on the lanes, surfaces can be shocking though!

There's lots of trails in and around looe but they are quite well hidden, best bet would be to look at the segments on strava. There's always cardinham woods trail centre near Bodmin as well.

SW Coastpath is footpath, but if you go midweek / late in the day tend not to have problems - I've ridden most of it from Sennen to St Agnes - particularly Porthtowan to St Agnes if you fancy a bit of exposure. If you head up the Looe Valley towards Muchlarnick Woods and prepared to join sections of road with bridleway you'll certainly find much up and down. Mainly done my riding in the area on a CX bike which helps when scrambling up cliffs / lots of steps.
