if my bikes stationary and I pedal backwards, what I think could be my rear hub sounds really rough.

its a shimano mt65 wheelset.

what can I do?

is it a cheap repair? just some need bearings?

Highly likely it's the freehub bearings rumbling, if so then a new freehub body will be needed before it fails and strands you in the middle of nowhere. Other possible causes include a bent mech hanger, or lack of B-tension, causing the upper jockey wheel to rub the larger sprockets.

It'll be the usual shitty Shimano freehub bearings running dry.
You could try removing it from the hub, flushing out all the crap and then soak it in some thicker oil.
But, it'll go again.
