I’ve got shimano ice tech rotors and normal ones on various bikes but I not sure I can tell if there is any difference. I need a new front 180mm rotor and wondered if there is a good reason for me to spend the extra on an ice tech?
Never had problems with those cheap Shimano rotors.
In the Alps, long downhill runs: the surface of those cheap rotors will get a bit darker and the sound changes when braking. But this will go away after couple "normal" trail rides. No idea if "ice tech" gives you a bit better braking performance. Possible. But I'am not spending money on those.
I have only ever had the normal Shimano rotors and never had any issues stopping so dont think i would pay for ice tech ones for my riding.
I don't fancy the ones with the alu in the muddle. The steel part is pretty thin and there are pictures of folded rotors.
