Anyone managed it?

I'm thinking about getting a roof box for my Ford Kuga to help with the camping load. I reckon a box that is long and narrow that will slide all the way over leaving enough room to stick my bike on the roof as well using my SeaSucker Talon.

Am I deluded?

Got a narrow roofbox and two bikes on the roof of my Volvo.  Had to take one pedal off next to the box and the bikes go nose to tail with the saddles all the way down.  Works just fine

I'm guessing with the seasucker you won't be able to reverse one of the bike though but I don't know

Edit: you only have one bike so probably not a problem.  Your problem us likely to be the front/aft position to get the roofbars for the box it a good position to open the boot but still fir the seasucker

Yeah, only issue I can see. Bike needs to go far enough back that the rear wheel is effectively sat on the roof in the holder. Does the fork mount land right where the front bar is or nicely behind. I know if I tried it where it would land 😀. If you’ve got the roof bars, a Thule bike rack to fit can probably be picked up on fb marketplace or eBay cheap enough though.

Could you not just strap the rear wheel of the bike to the roof bar? In fact, I think I might spring for a proper bike carrier to go beside the roof box in this case, they're not that expensive.

Yeah I'd just buy a cheap Thule rack for your root bars.

I think the Thule Motion Sport should do it. Not a massive storage capacity (300L) but should help and allow me to take my bike with us camping.

A normal width roof box and a Thule freeride should be fine as long as your car isn’t too narrow. You can pick up a freeride cheap on eBay
