Thule Thruride/Proride still the one to go for? Will only be used for short local journeys with one bike on the roof (got a towball rack for more than one bike) to stop the inside of the car getting trashed and as such will be left on the roof most of the time. Alternative brands definitely considered if there's no significant difference and they're cheaper.

I have both the Altera Giro and the Thule 591 (? maybe its 581 - the popular one anyway!).

I prefer the Thule although both are good. Last time I went in Halfords were doing a really good price for a pair if you know anyone else that is in need.

Thule 598, loads of threads on them and the previous version (the 591).

If you want a forkmount one, the Whispbar ones are good - and can handle QR + 15mm thru axles.

I'm very impressed with my fork-mount Pendle Bikes rack.

Thule everytime. Don't be afraid to go second hand as it's bulletproof.

N ewer 598 definitely worth the extra over the older 591, lots of small improvements that overall make a significant difference.

+1 for the Pendle Fork Mount Rack. I have two on the top of my bus and they've been great.

Why faff around with a fork mount? The hassle of removing a wheel when there is absolutely no need to whatsoever? Life is too short! Get a Thule if you want 100% satisfaction guaranteed. Other options will most likely be perfectly fine, but there is a risk they might not be. I have never met anyone in real life who is dissatisfied with a Thule. A few dissenters on internet forums, but you can't always take their word for it. They could be nutters for all you know.
