One of the rollers on my Tacx unit broke terminally last night.
I've has the unit so long I can't remember and it owes me nothing so now looking for a replacement.
Not after the turbo trainer option as I like just being able to plonk the bike on it and go without fixing axles in.
Current Tacx Antares looks a bit lightweight in construction,
CycleOps looks more sturdy but price is getting high,

Minoura ones looks good and bargain price,

Any advice or alternatives, please let me know.
Using these as part of training for London to Bath in a few weeks so this is throwing out my already desperate attempts to get fit enough!
I have some of the cycleops rollers and one of my sons has the Tack plastic rollers. The Cyclops are far superior, there are no resonances and they run very smooth. They are also easier to fold up if you take them anywhere.
I think Planet-X do some copies of them (sportcrafters??)
I think SportsCrafters make them for CycleOps and PlanetX. They are all the same so get the cheapest!
I have the Planet X version and they are fine. I did go for the resistance one initially but swapped the drum for the non resistance as I tend to use rollers for easy spinning and the turbo for resistance work.
MrBlobby, are these the ones ?
Look good value to me, same as Cycle Ops but £60 less!

Yes, those are the ones.
Kreitler - midsize for reasonable resistance. There is no better. There are cheaper, but not better.
I've got some of the Jet Black ones and they have been totally bomb proof so far. Nice resistance, (hot tip - for more resistance on rollers put on heavier, less supple tyres) really smooth, fold well for travelling (smaller than previous Tacx) and they are an Australian company 🙂

I would respectfully disagree, I have tried the Kreitler rollers and they are good, but my current TruTrainer ones are much better, albeit more expensive.

I have Cyclops ones with resistance. They are virtually identical to the cheaper ones on Planet-X by the looks of it.
You can wind the resistance right off, so I'd go with that versatility rather than get ones you can only spin on.
Hmm $1000 for a set of rollers when the OP was balking at 200 quid 🙂
Nice rollers mind. If I used them a lot I'd be tempted. Though use the turbo a lot more and I'd rather spend that sort of cash on a Kickr.
Great information so far, thanks guys.
My preference is always to get out in the hills so I tend to use rollers when its dark, wet and cold or currently for training between real rides.
That being the case I'm looking at the "good quality cheaper" end of the market rather that the Rolls Royce.
Jet Blacks and Planet X are looking good currently.
Pleased I asked as yesterday CycleOps were looking favourite.
