Yep.  I'll be there.  It was fun and not too hard when I did it two years ago.  But I'm less fit now.

Great event. You will enjoy it. It's fast and flat excluding 3 hills. Loads of Thames path etc.

Lightest fastest bike. skinnier tyre The better.

All is very relevant till it rains.

Enjoy.

Right - just found out that Velo South has been cancelled on Sunday  and thinking of entering this because Saturdays weather looks OK and it says entry available on day.

I have 2 bike choices Trek Fuel EX 29er with 2.4 inch Tyres or a Orro Terra Gravel with 33mm front and 36mm rear Semi nobbly tyres.

Leaning towards the Gravel bike at present,

Id go gravel bike...mostly fairly smooth including downs link. I did Dorking to Eastbourne via North Downs Way, Downs Link then South Downs Way this year on my full rigid 29er with 1.75" tyres and it was spot on

OK - gravel bike it is, look out for a neon green Orro hoping to beat weather to Brighton

really enjoyed today's spin, better route than I'd been led to believe, Gravel bike just about coped but feeling a little beaten up, also took a tumble on the last off road descent from the downs. Chalk was slippery as hell.

Well that was...wet!  Didn't beat the weather and took a soaking.  Fun though and very pleased to have finished.

O man that rain...I took my Mrs. Big ride but going through Surrey and round all the good stuff was disappointing..managed to clean the big climb at the end which was good..

Hated the last hour, was pissed wet through and cold but really enjoyed the ride itself and was really looking forward to the descent to Brighton cos without the rain and cold it would have been ace. Some lovely stuff through the woods and ferns. Its a shame about the build ups on some of the “trickier bits” but I suppose it can’t be helped. That last hill is easily doable if there weren’t so many riders walking up,it and blocking the way.

First long ride I’ve ever done and can’t wait to do another.
