Anyone any experience of this? Mine is leaking enough from the non drive side that its getting on the brake disc. It seems to be coming either thru the shifter box or the axle. I know some oil loss is normal and the main hub seals seem to be dry and that it does vent along the hollow axle but this is a bit too much
Any experience / thoughts?
Capillary action can cause oil to escape from the breather along the QR - mine did it after being on its side for a while, cured by cleaning the QR & the axle tube.
worth a try as the QR was very wet with oil
None of mine have leaked, although I have changed the drive side seal, but can't remember why.
Any circumstances leading to big changes in heat or air pressure?
Yup - touring round a very hot highlands but its been doing it for a while just getting worse.
I had this on mine a few years back. I contacted rohloff and they asked I send it to them.
They sent it back a week later with both drive and non-drive seals replaced free of charge.
mine leaked after a plane trip to new zealand, new seals sorted it out
Mine used to do it occasionally in winter when bringing in to the warehouse where there was a huge gas space heater. Seemed to be caused by the temperature change. Remember though that Rohloff say that as long as you do the annual oil change or at the prescribed distance you'll always have enough oil lubricating the gears even if all the oil not clinging to the internals has leaked out.
