I have a set of 2018 rev 29 RCs that are currently 150mm and I want to drop them to 120mm. I can buy the airshaft for about £30, but what do I need to do to install it? How easy is it for a average home mechanic to do?

Cheers

I've done earlier Solo Air Revs. Very simple, just download the manual and follow the instructions.

SRAM is pretty good at putting instructional videos on Youtube, which I find more intuitive to follow than manuals. Pikes are pretty straightforward and I'd guess Revs work along similar lines, just make sure you have the right tools / grease / oil to hand before starting and try not to squirt fork oil into your laptop...

Yer I need the oil and grease, but thats not a problem. I can't see any major pitfalls in the process but I just thought I'd check

If you can manage to remove the lower legs to carry out a lower leg service, then afaik all you'll need are a pair of cir-clip pliers to remove the cir-clip at the bottom of the airshaft leg. That's all I needed when I swapped internals between forks.

1) Let out air and remove lowers
2) Remove cir-clip from bottom of airshaft leg and *air side top cap
3) Pull on lower section of airshaft to remove from leg
4) Grease up new airshaft as per Sram instructions
5) Insert new airshaft from the bottom
6) Fit top cap, lower legs, oil to lube, add air
7) Go ride or drink beer

*I also find removing the air side top cap helped as it seemed to create a vacuum, meaning the air shaft was quite hard to pull out
