...and no you cannot google that for me.
I found the last weekend, after servicing my 2005 426 revelation myself, that i could not use the top 1" of travel.
Releasing all air pressure, i could hear and feel that the fork was bottoming out on fluid.
To much oil i say to myself!
i release (remove) the compression unit, and compress the fork, however even with the restriction of the compression unit completley removed, I have the same issue.
AHA, so the "5ml" of fluid in the LOWER of the fork must be the issue.
releasing the seals on the lowers deposits what I can only estimate as "more than 10ml" of fluid on the drip tray.
compressing the fork, squelches some of this fluid out, and release all by 2mm of the travel (the fork hits a bumper before it bashes the seal into the crown as far as I can feel)
having had the fork upside down, and spun around within seconds of it going back together, my thinking is that the oil that remains in the leg, coating the inside of the leg and seals, will be enough to perform the job of the "5ml" of fluid in each lower (basic lubrication I think)
the question is, am i correct in thinking this "lowers" fluid is just a bit of lubrication for the lower side of the seals etc and "5ml" is just a indicative value?
or should i reclean out the fork with IPA, and then measure exactly 5ml with a Calpol measuring spoon (i dont have any syringes)
I think the excess may be partly due to me being a bit hap handed with the measurements of the oil I put in in the first place (a few tea spoons i seem to recall) and partly due to me putting OOODLES of fluid in the sponges, which has possibly escaped into the lowers in the process of putting the fork back together.
I pass it to the panel....
Eager for an answer as well
bump and book mark....
Maybe wrong but im sure you need 15 ml oil not 5ml in lowers as a lube for bushes, seals etc?
he's not wrong!
that complicates things a little perhaps.
i had an exploded drawing but its on myother ocmputer, so i will have to look to see if i can find it online.
i might tell me whats stopping on what....
damper cart is most likely leaking imho

... or because the o-rings at the bottom of the damper have failed and dumped a quantity of oil into the lower leg.
Also is it not 15ml on Revelations?
that would be rubbish. going to spain in 3 weeks, and serviced fork to make it "tip top" prior....
Not a problem! real easy to fix
Has oil from the damper unit leaked into the bottom of the fork leg causing hydraulic lock? . Its 15 ml in teh bottom of the legs for ubeing
Well maybe they just serviced the lowers and didn't bother changing the damper o-rings.
Follow the tech-doc here for instructions on how to replace the o-rings.
see what your saying about the hydraulic lock.
i didnt change or replace any parts when i did it. just stripped it all down, cleaned them, relubed (with fork oil) and rebuilt it with fresh oil.
didnt find any nicks in them, but might have a look.
I forgot that you'd done the service yourself, just follow the guide in TJ's link. It's a fairly simple thing to fix.
You'll need to order an o-ring kit from somewhere like TF Tuned or try and find some of the correct sizes.
UPDATE!
when I got home (fork had been standing in the stand all day, i compressed the travel and found that the 2mm to the bump stop, was now approx 5mm to fluid!
leaky leaky, as suggested!
have stripped down damping leg completely. but left the spring side intact!
pouring the 115ml of 5wt out of the leg, uncovered that it was now more like 80ml
again, pointing to a leak!
i took all the seals out, and cleaned them thoroughly with ipa so they were CLEAN and DRY rubber, to see if there were any scratches. i found a flake of something (dirt) behind one of them, which was duly removed!
no marks noticed on any of the seals, nor scratches on any of the contact surfaces.
before reassembling the seals, they were all coated liberally in 15wt (as advised)
i have reassembled the damping unit, and all appears ok so far.
i have cleaned and dried (with IPA and clean lint free tissue) the entire upper assembly. the fork is now only missing its lowers.
i'm thinking I might leave it over night, clean and dry, to see if any weeps develop from either leg!
if not, perhaps it was that flake of dirt, lifting the seal away from its contact surface, allowing the oil through.
P.S. im braced for your "buy some new seals anyway you stingy sod"
Have seal for the plastic 'puck' that separates the upper and lower chambers if you want a cheap fix alternativly have the full MoCo side seal kits in too which include the loCo MoCo upgrade kit F.O.C (which replaces the seals that cause the top of the MoCo to leak throught the adjusters. Mail me if you need anything 😉
The seals on the damper base are just o-rings, any motor factors or bearing place will have them for pennies
new development.
standing in the stand for 2 mins, and there is a little puddle of sports under the spring leg.
it doesnt resemble the rockshox guide. will have to do a bit more research on that i think.
i didnt take that unit apart when i had it apart the first time, as it looked decidedly "sealed"
hum.....
Im interseted in this thread. See post:
http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/revelation-2010-150mm-help
Im only getting 110mm out of 150mm. I also took the lowers off and cleaned. A tiny bit of suspensin oil. worked for several rides, 2 weeks later and this:

looks pretty similar to my problem!ive areassembled mine again, i will give them a few days, and see how things pan out. if no luck, it might be a job for TF to make sure spain doesnt get ballsed up.
