Hi, I have a rockshox super deluxe select r on my vitus sommet which is just a couple of month old. When setting up the shock I have added the recommended PSI for my weight and I then disconnect the shock pump so I can sit on the bike to test. When I reconnect the pump, the pressure reading on the dial is showing 0. Confused… as this says the shock is not holding any air, no hissing or leaks can be heard. The shock pump works fine on the forks and when screwed on it immediately shows the PSI on the dial.

am I doing something wrong? The SAG still sits at 30%, would it bottom out just sat on the bike if it was actually empty? Hope this makes sense.

If there is no pressure in the shock then you'll be able to squash the thing most of the way to full compression.

You'll generally know if 150psi+ is escaping from anything.

If it's got a multi mode setting (like a fox CTD) then check if it's supposed to be in one of them to inflate. On my CTD it must have the lever in the Descend position.

My shock is off for repairs for damping issues at the moment so cannot check if I have to pump a bit to get a reading.

Thanks for the reply, it has no dials apart from the rebound setting, no lock out etc. I can hear it hiss when I disconnect the hose but that’s the air inside the hose. As you say it must have some air in the shock as when I’m sat on it, it is 30% sag, very strange. Maybe I will buy a digital pressure reader and pop that on to see if it gives a reading
