Hi hoping to gain some advice if possible. I’ve developed some play in the rear of my bike which I think is from the shock eyelets. From research I’ve seen it could be the bushings but I spoke to TF Tuned and they suggest bushings won’t likely fit the stock mounting hardware so would need to buy the full mounting kit £18.00 x 2. Rather than just a pack of bushings £10.

Can you not just change the bushings or do you need to replace the whole mounting kit?

Also does anyone know if on a SC Nomad V4 it requires 2 mounting kits? Stupid question I know but I think it has bearings on the rear? Does it have mounting hardware too?

Could it even be the bearings causing the play?

Any help to clear my very confused head would be amazing. TIA

The problem is TFs bushings wont fit. If yours is stock RockShox you just need regular bushings. If it uses bearings then you just have a bolt through it normally. POst a pic of the shock and we can advise 🙂

The rear of my RS Super Deluxe has 2x 608VRS bearings in it. This is to fit a SC V3 Bronson

This is the full kit
https://j-techsuspension.co.uk/products/rock-shox-deluxe-super-deluxe-eyelet-bearings?variant=29181768204365

and has this eyelet arrangement on it

Thanks both.

I went for these as the linked full kit was out of stock. Presume they would fit but just don't come with the bushing etc?

It's quite difficult to take a picture of the shock due to it still being on the bike sadly and has an awkward mud protector covering the rear eyelet - sorry 🙁

- Carlos, does the rear of yours have any mounting hardware or is it just the bearings? Hopefully I can just return one of the mounting kit's I've ordered if so.

I presume bushing's on their own wouldn't be suitable.

Its 2x bearings, 1x small tube and 2x dust covers. The same as in the 1st link up there^^ so just the bearings and no mounting hardware as such

That's great thanks very much. Hopefully I will be able to return one of the mounting kits if that's the case. Appreciated.

The rear of the shock just needs the two bearings replacing, for the front you'll probably have a standard rock shox mount, which is a DU bush pressed into the shock and a black alloy pin that pushes through, its 12.7mm OD with an 8mm ID hole then two spacers push on either side, 20x8 I think is the size, you could just try replacing the DU bush with a poly one, that's like a hula hoop or tube, not the tophat types that TF tuned ones have with their mount kits, I have bought the 4 pack poly bushes in the past, they're a good replacement for the DU bush. Download rear shock pdf from Sram website to see how it's done.
