Allo STW,
My Kingdom Vendetta X2 frame turned up on Tuesday morning. All very nice and now covered with my sweaty little paw prints... I have a full build ready to go, with the exception of.... a fork (2nd most expensive component).
I was planning to get a 2018 110-140 29" Dual Position Pike, which I can see for €725 (yes, €s for me), or a 120 Pike for €697. However, I've spotted the new 120 Revelations, which I can get for €511, BUT there are no reviews I can find. There is a YT vid (
with the weight but no ride commentary. Do any of you lot have experience on one? I know my level as a rider and am not sure whether I'd notice Motion Control versus Charger 2, and there is <100 g difference in mass. What d'you reckon?
Cheers,
Gaidong
The Revelation RC, tried them on a Whyte 905 recently as are the standard spec on 2018.
My view is they are noticeably better/stiffer than the previous revelations but not quite as good as the pike overall.
whats the difference between the 35mm Revs and the Yari ?
Pretty sure the Yari uses the Lyrik lowers or at least a variation of them.
Yari is to Lyrik what Rev is to Pike i.e. only difference is the motion control damper in the Yari and Rev is replaced with Charger damper in the more expensive forks.
Ah ok, I'd always assumed the Yari was the MC damper version of the Pike - makes sense
Yup, Yari was originally marketed as the budget Pike but was really a budget Lyrik. In the 2018 catalogue the Pike has been sort of downgraded to a trail/light enduro fork, with the Rev as the budget option, and the Lyrik/Yari are the burlier full-fat enduro options. 2018 Revs seem to be available cheaper than 2018 Yaris though, and my Bike is more trail than enduro so a Rev is probably more suitable. Unless I want Dual Position, which doesn't seem to be offered in Rev form but only in Pike (and Lyrik). Decisions decisions!
Not exactly the same but I have Yari and Pike. The Pike is worth the extra money imo although the Yari is by no means a bad fork.
Just bumping this, any guesses as to when the first reviews will start appearing? As it will likely be one of the most commonly fitted forks, I'm surprised bike mags haven't been all over it yet.
I haven't seen anything TRJ. I'm holding off my fork purchase until February as I'm overseas most of the time til then. Quite tempting to get the Rev as the cost difference between them and Pike is almost exactly the price of a Charger 2 damper. Ergo, you can upgrade Rev to Pike later if needs be. Or maybe I'm missing something?
Ive got the 120mm RC revelations and they're great, very stiff. I've got a 3.0 tyre though which takes most of the small bumps. You can always convert it to a Pike later if you like by droppping a Charger 2 damper in it, £200.
Only one ride in on my Revelation-wearing Chameleon but very impressed so far. Nice and stiff and supple off the top with the new Debonair air spring.
I have been running one for the past couple of months, MASSIVE improvement over the old 32mm revelation. Stiffness is the biggest and most obvious improvement, but damping and suppleness are both better too. Overall I am very happy with my set.
