Running a 100mm Reba RLT on my 29er HT - and for love not money I can't get it feeling anything but harsh/dead.

Solo Air, air pressure set by sag rather the RS guide on leg which seems to be a bit on the high side. (See below)

To get it more active and compliant relies on too little air which makes it very divey. Right air pressure (according to guide) to prevent divey feeling makes it feels dead/harsh on smaller hits/ripples.

Happy with rebound settings etc.

Any tips?

The solo air on my recon golds on other bike (older style solo air spring) was a lot easier to get feeling better than this?!

Thanks in advance!

Might be worth talking to LoCo to see if the compression can be altered with shims etc?

My 2012 Rebas felt like that. I sent it back to merlin who sent it somewhere else. They serviced it and eased out the bushes I think. Anyway came back lovely. Worth a chat with Loco, he'll sort you out.

I've got the same forks on my ht 29er and have no problem with using the lowest psi figure for my weight range.

However I have a set of 120mm dual air on my fs 26er and can't get them right. Even using compression (non remote lockout on these) can't get them to work the way I'd like. They are either dead or divey like you desribe.

Not sure about it being bushings - had the forks apart a couple of times to see if anything unusual in there I could see and the lowers slid nicely onto the stanchions so going to rule that out for the moment.

I saw a thread on MTBR about removing the top out bumper (Or cutting it down a bit) to increase the size of the negative chamber but can't really see how that will work?!

Seriously thinking of binning them off at the moment, just can't get them feeling right. Either that or might end up doing a coil conversion somehow!

Ah, mine are exactly the opposite - really harsh to get into their travel if set with air pressure to stop diving, or really divey feeling if set more small bump compliance!

Bit gutted really - my older 26" dual air Reba's were perfect! Not impressed with the newer solo air - especially as to change travel it's a new air spring assembly too.

i have the 120 solo airs, which are about 4 months old. The guide said for my weight set to I think 110 PSI. This was far too stiff, so I ran at about 80 until yesterday, when I popped them up to 90. I am about 12.5 stone in riding gear, on a 26 Soul. I get full travel regularly, no diving.
