I have a pair of Rockshox Reba RLT on a Cotic Soul that I had not ridden much before this weekend. I bought them secondhand but I think they are about 2017ish. As I was not sure of the condition and didn’t want to spend a load on a professional service I bought a service kit and took them to pieces swapped the seals throughout and successfully put them back together. It took me a while and they actually were quite decent inside. This weekend I did a three day bikepacking trip and on braking the forks have quite a lot of flutter feeling so I guess that what I am feeling is slack bushings. I’d like to have them sorted but loathe to spend loads on a full service (that I have just done!) on what are secondhand forks (so I might be able to get a better s/h pair for the same price as the service).
Does anyone know of a service centre that would just do the bushing sizing/replacement? I searched the forum and there was a 9yr old thread featuring some serious forum strops and a solution by LoCo (who I have used before but is no longer in business as I understand it).
Any advice appreciated!
As far as I know, on "modern" Rockshox forks the bushings are not replaceable, at least not through official channels. The lowers need to be replaced as a unit.
Ah OK, interesting. But I think they can be 'sized' which I think means ramming them a bit further down the lowers to decrease the diameter and tighten them up.
Rockshox dont sell fork bushes anymore, just new lowers. There are sometimes Rockshox fork bushes on ebay.
I think ND Tuned do new bushes. (they sell new 32mm stanchions)
I would phone suspension workshops that offer bushing replacement for a chat. Cheapest would be just send in clean lowers, but if you want them sized to the stanchion you would need to send in the fork and pay for a lower service as well.
