Hello. Just fitted my new Rebas, but when I tried to secure the brake hose into that little plastic clip on the front of the forks, I managed to shear the clip's screw head off. Got it out with pliers and now making do with a cable tie to hold the hose, but does anyone know where I can get a replacement screw from? Thanks.
Hooray, I'm not the only one who did that! must get round to trying to remove it.
The best thing i've ever used to fix a brake hose to my forks (also Rebas) is a piece of my girlfriends clear elasticated bra strap. Seriously, its been on there for 3 years and not moved. I attached it just bellow the seal on the top of the lower leg. It's flexible, strong, light, wont rust or sheer off, easy to remove and put back on for maintenance.
I never bothered with the proper attachment.
mjsmke, the above requires having a girlfriend. just zip tie around the little notches on the back of arch? took me ages to realise what that was. maybe newer rebas don't have that.
Try this sram part number 11.4015.491.010
Consider yourself lucky, the ones i've seen usually break off flush, and are too tight to unscrew. Try your local stainless steel stockist/engineers supplies for something a bit stronger, and fit it using a large dose of mechanical sympathy as it's long and thin.
My new rebas are now sporting a cable tie after the same thing.
I'm sure I didnt even tighten it that much.... 🙄
I'm afraid you don't need to, it's not a very strong design.
My new Reba's have the brake hose secured by a cable tie..
