So I bought a Process 153 in 2014, it came with Pike RC forks, all was fine and dandy. Until they developed the CSU creak and rattled a lot, so sent them back to Sram for a service.
They warrantied them for me (which I wasnt expecting, but was great), I never found out what the problem that warranted the warranty. Fitted new forks and went on my merry way riding and such.
Sent the replacements in for a service with Sram about a week ago, and they sent my LBS a jiffy bag with my crownrace and brake adapter and a note saying a new set of forks are on the way due to "bushing movement".
Have I just been unlucky, or is there an inherent problem/fault with the model?
I am a fairly mediocre rider, dont do anything bigger than me jump/drop-wise.
Not sure about Pikes but from my experience with Rock Shox forks their quality control isn't the best. My Rebas have been back under warranty three times for various issues including CSU creak and a faulty air spring.
I think the quality must vary a lot as my Pikes have been excellent, my Rebas have been great and so far so good with my Revelations. I had all sorts of problems with my previous Fox forks so maybe it's luck of the draw?
You are on your 2nd new fork for free? I'd say you are lucky. That's great service from rockshox.
Fisher, but yeah it's great that they've honouring the warranty. I was just inquiring as to whether there's a known fault or issue with the bushings coming loose and whether there's something i can do to prevent it in future.
Maybe a great service but the fork needing replacing twice is not so good.
SRAM are very generous with their warranty, pikes do have a bit of a rep for CSU creak, but they sell so many that I imagine tales of woe seem disproportionately large
Components that are ridden hard are gonna fail at somepoint
Unlucky to get two lemons.
Wouldn't let it turn me off the brand though, especially with warranty service like that.
I'd sell the new one and buy a Lyrik though. Frame like that deserves something a bit stiffer, eh?
Out of interest, is that normal practice to send your forks back for service via the LBS to SRAM, rather than use TF or Mojo etc?
I ask because mine (2016 pikes) need a service and I think a possible warranty issue as they have a very slack movement on the first 10 mm of travel. Work fine though, but don't think you should be able to move em in and out at all by hand when set at ride pressure for a 90 kilo rider??
Serial Rockshox user since 2006 here, I've never had any issues at all.
The count so far is:
Revelation x 3
Pike x 3
Pike Nu-Skool x 1
The U-Turn Revelation airs I had supposedly had a reputation for being rubbish, but mine were good. My very first set of Pikes soldier on after a decade, underneath three new coats of paint.

Mojo are Fox UK so would sort stuff under warranty in house.
Don't know about the rest, but I will send stuff to Sram that I view to be a warranty issue on units that come in for service (if applicable)
