So, I posted a thread a while ago about my sons Pikes not having full travel and a definite clunk stopping them at about 70mm out of the available 140mm. He noticed it as he got the bike out of the shed for a ride and subsequently didn't ride it.
Well, yesterday I had the chance to take them apart, undid the lower leg bolts, pulled the lowers off and the sodding damper cartridge came with it, leaving the damper spring assembly still attached to the crown - as it should be, but generally with the cartridge / rod still attached!
How on earth has the cartridge managed to unthread itself from the top cap / damper spring assembly, its a very fine thread and needs a good number of turns to be fully tight / undone.
Thankfully he noticed before the ride otherwise it could've lead to a pretty bad crash and totally wrecked forks.
