I have a new set of the Lyrik ultimates and am trying to set them up with the help of a shockwiz. I an aiming for the neutral / planted feel.
I have the been adding more rebound but I now I have got it fully on but I could do with trying a bit more. Does it sound like there is an issue with the damper, or is this normal ? I am 15.5 stone.
I still need to add a spacer and drop the pressure but surprised by lack of damping range.
I wouldn't expect it to be fully on. Maybe put the serial number into rockshox trailhead, select tuning, and then see what rockshox think a base setting for your weight should be.
This might give a guide as to whether yours is a bit off.
Do you mean you can't get it fast enough or slow enough?
I'm about 80kg at the moment and find there's plenty of useable range on mine.
Are you going fast, would you say?
Can't get it slow enough...
And no, I am an old, if only I could go fast ....
If you are not running over the max spring pressure then it sounds like it needs looking at as the rebound damping range usually covers a big range of spring pressures.
I have not used a shockwiz, but is there a chance it is asking for too slow?
Yeah sounds like a funny one.
I'm far from an expert and also never used a Shockwiz, but would the rebound recommendation change if you change the compression settings?
i.e. if you open those up (most people run them on the open side), it might suggest a faster rebound to match the faster compression?
i'd agree it needs a look at - i'm cracking on for 100kg and have no problem getting the right amount of rebound control. You shouldn't need to do this, as they're new, but the damper cartridge maybe needs a bleed?
Are you sure you’re doing what the shockwiz is asking and not the opposite?
Ignoring the shockwiz if you press down in the fork and let go is it springing back really hard?
I’m about 75kgs and have the damping nowhere near the slowest setting. You’re presumably running quite a bit more pressure but even when I was 84kgs I was still comfortably in the range of adjustment.
I'm another one who finds plenty of range on the adjustment on my Lyrik Ultimates. I'm north of 100kg and run the adjuster about half way out (I'm a couple of clicks faster than the trailhead app recommends)
It's a 160mm fork, currently at 105 psi.
I should pop another token in later as I was using most of the travel up.
Currently couple of clicks on the HSC and LSC from open.
Trailhead reckons 105psi and 4 clicks from fully closed.
Sounds odd. You sure you are not attempting to set it ridiculously slow. I set mine by feel. Obviously the rebound stroke should be slower than just rebounding straight back (fastest fully open setting). I pick a fast rough track with loads of successive chatter and hits and set it so doesn't feel like a jackhammer, then forget about it!
Forks IMO are better a bit fast, 1 or 2 clicks extra at most. The opposite for rear shocks, especially for jumping where fast rebound equals scorpion death.
You say planted so err on the side of a bit slower i.e. 1-2 clicks slower than ideal. Don't go mad or it will pack down with rapid successive hits, whilst feeling great on mellow trails!
Thanks for the advice / feedback.
The fork feels fine with use, the shockwiz is telling me that I need a little more damping

Yes, double checked that. It springs back OK, not fast or too slow with full damping. In comparison my Revelation with an RCT3 damper is noticably slow in it's return with the rebound on fully.
Just a thought. The usual sequence with a Shockwiz is to get the air pressure right first, then the ramp (tokens) and then rebound. Are you also starting a new session after each change?

Thanks, yes I am starting a new session after each change but having just added another spacer (at 3) I haven't re-calibrated and tested again.
It does feel good now, but I would like to see how it feels with a little more damping and the wind it back if not needed.
As said you're supposed to change the air pressure then start a new session. That resets all detections and recommendations.

I start a new session any time I change a setting, eg. damping, not just air pressure. I need to recalibrate now I have put another spacer in.
